The FA has taken the decision to suspend all grassroots football in England due to the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic.
The FA put out the following statement in regards to the postponements:
"Following the Government’s announcement today, for people to avoid social contact and gatherings where possible, we are now advising that all grassroots football in England is postponed for the foreseeable future. "Throughout this period, we have taken Government advice with the priority being the health and wellbeing of all. We will continue to work closely with the grassroots game during this time. "We are in regular communication with the Government and the situation within English football at all levels remains under regular review. Further updates will follow as needed."
Therefore, Chester FC Women's Argyle Sports Kit North West Regional Plate cup tie against Penrith AFC Ladies has been called off. The following game in the league against Northwich Vixens has also been suspended, as the league take the decision to postpone all games.
Seals manager Martin Fitzsimons has also confirmed in a statement released to his staff and players that 'training has been cancelled'.
"As per Government and league guidelines, we will be cancelling training for at least this week" said Fitzsimons. "We'll be in touch in regards to up and coming weeks.
"I know some will be disappointed and want to play football despite all this. However, we have come to this decision to try and look after you guys and your families by not putting any of you at risk. Following government guidelines seems the right thing to do."
The grassroots suspension comes after The FA made the decision to ban football in the professional leagues and more recently the National League.
It is unclear when, or if, any of the leagues will resume this season, with the FA likely to announce a plan of action, regarding the continuation of the season, in the coming weeks.
