Official Statement: North West Women's Regional league suspended

Chester FC Women's football season has came to an abrupt halt after the league announced last night that games would be suspended to prevent the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19).

This comes after the FA advised all grassroots football to be suspended, putting pressure on the league after numerous other football leagues around the country had already been cancelled.

Women's Leagues Officer Nick Frith announced last night that the league would be suspended, with no date for when the league will resume.

"With immediate effect all games are suspended for the foreseeable future," according to the statement on the league website.

The FA advised that "all leagues within the Women's Football Pyramid should suspend activity immediately," which led to the statement released on the league website last night.

This leaves Chester third in the table, with four games left to play. Also, the team have an Argyle Sports Plate fixture away against Penrith to be played, and therefore potential plate games to follow.

All teams will be awaiting further statements from the league, as the remainder of season appears to be in doubt.
