Three things we learned from Wythenshawe (a)

SealsTalk reflect on three talking points from Chester FC Women's 5-3 victory against Wythenshawe Women

1. Chester's bounce-back ability. Having started the game at a rather slow tempo, Chester found themselves 1-0 up following a lovely fast flowing move which was finished by midfielder Ashleigh Bullock. But from then on Chester found it very hard to double their advantage and were soon level at 1-1. Things would go from bad to worse as Wythenshawe would then take a 2-1 lead heading into half time, but this Chester side is made of resilience and courage. Within seconds of going behind, the Blues had scored and brought the game back to 2-2 at the break. The seals would then be brought back to level terms ar 3-3 but eventually running out 5-3 winners after two quickfire goals.

2. Two wins on the spin. Following the Blues cup heroics two weeks prior to this game in a 5-0 thrashing of Ashville, Martin Fitzsimmons's side had the chance to win back to back games. Something that they would go on to do in quite convincing fashion. The confidence going in and throughout the game was all clear to say, playing with a smile on faces and the freedom of trying anything. The Seals will be hoping this good form continues when they return to league against Altrincham, hoping to make it three wins on the spin and push up the table.

3. Super-sub. Amy Broomhead proved to be quite the super-sub against Wythenshawe after being introduced by manager Martin Fitzsimons on 60 minutes with the score level at 3-3. The forward was told to go on grab a goal, something she would go on to do. Broomhead scored twice in the space of nine second-half minutes to ensure all three points on the road for Chester. Having failed to register a goal this season, the forward will hope her cameo from the bench will have earned her place in the starting XI for next week.
