Amy Broomhead scoops the player of the match award after her impressive, energetic performance in the Seals' 1-1 draw against West Kirby.

Despite not getting herself on the scoresheet, the striker worked relentlessly for her side and was a handful for the oppositions defence all game. The Seals relinquished a one goal lead at the weekend and allowed West Kirby to close the gap to the Blues; who currently sit in fourth place.

Broomhead could've put her team out of sight on many occasions, as the number 9's goal draught continues, since her brace against Wythenshawe in early December.

Nevertheless, the 19-year-old secured 41.9% of the player of the match poll, as Sarah Redman, for the second week running, took second place with 30.6%. Emma Davies secured third with 14.5% and goalscorer Ashleigh Bullock, who won last weeks poll, takes fourth spot.

Manager Martin Fitzsimons was full of praise for the 'quality' forward but believes she needs to have more 'composure' in front of goal.

"She's doing everything but score really" said Fitzsimons. "She keeps on trying and getting into them positions. I think it's just a case of being composed in front of goal.

"Obviously when a striker goes on a goal draught it's probably playing on your mind a lot, so i think it is a case of forgetting about it. She's a quality finisher she shows us that in training week in, week out. Then it's just a case of putting everything to one side and getting out there and doing it."

Despite not being able to find the back of the net she was a live wire all game, with her willingness to get in behind and constantly kept running. Her work rate and mindset to defend from the front set the standard for the rest of the squad to follow suit.

Broomhead was visibly exhausted by the end but with the lack of options from the bench she had to see out the full 90 minutes. The forward and the rest of the squad will now have time to recover as the Seals are not scheduled to have a game this upcoming weekend.

Big congratulations to Amy Broomhead on winning the player of the match award, keep up the hard work and the goals will soon come!
