Ashleigh bullock pipped fellow midfielder Sarah Redman by a slender 2% on our twitter poll.
Chester FC Women cruised to victory against West Kirby and progressed into the quarter final of the Cheshire County Cup.
Bullock put in an incredible performance, with a delightful brace and all round contributed to Chester’s 3-1 victory. The midfielder secured 42% of the vote with Redman in at close second while Abi France, who also scored, took third with 11%. Amy Broomhead received 7% and rounded off the four-woman shortlist.
In truth any of the ladies could have been recognised as player of the match with the Seals putting in an impressive performance and worked as a real unit. Bullock was at the heart of the attacks as she utilised the ball well. The silky control and her typical runs, which we have come so accustomed of seeing, were on full display.
The number 10 has been in a rich run of form lately and is ‘happy’ to get on the score-sheet after a ‘positive’ victory.
“I think it was very positive (the performance), I’m happy with the two goals and we played with a good tempo and attitude” said Bullock.
Chester put in a gritty performance last weekend against Manchester Stingers, in a game which Bullock again pulled the strings in the middle. Although the Blues failed to find the back of the net, the level of play was high and set a standard for Sunday’s match.
“After last week’s performance we needed to come out there and play like that every single week and today we have shown we can play to that ability and that’s the level we need to play at every game.”
Chester will hope Bullock can continue putting in top performances as the Blues now set their sights on the quarter finals, with a clash against Stockport County Ladies on the horizon.
