Chester FC Women are set to take on Chester FC Women Under 18's in a friendly match. The game will be a chance for the under 18's players to stake a claim for a chance in the first team.
The Seals recorded their first home win in five games last weekend with a dominant victory over Didsbury Ladies.
Manager Martin Fitzsimons will be keeping a close eye on the opposition as the Seals boss could find a future star for his team. There is a pathway available for the girls with the likes of Laura Roberts making the transition from academy to first team at the beginning of the season.
New faces have given the Blues a lift in recent weeks with new signing Anna Jones starring on her first competitive start for the Seals bagging a brace last weekend. The signing of Jones has lifted the squad with her grit, determination and talent. There's no reason why an under 18 player can't also bring that spark to the team.
16-year-old Hannah Snape has performed brilliant for Fitzsimons this season and should be an example for the academy players that there is a way into the first team even at a young age.
As for the first team it'll be a good chance to rack up back-to-back wins and give them momentum going into the big game against Warrington Wolverines. Chester currently occupy third spot, two points ahead of Warrington, with the match at Tetley Walker Recreation Ground looking incredibly significant in a couple of weeks.
In the meantime it'll be an interesting spectacle between first team and youth team as the senior side will be looking to set the bar and lay down their dominance. On the flip side Richards' ladies will be hoping for an upset and put themselves in contention for a first team call up.
