Chester FC Women hit Didsbury Ladies for six as they moved up to third place in the North West Regional Division One South at Ellesmere Port Sport Village.
Two goals from Anna Jones on her home debut, as well as goals from Amy Broomhead, Ashleigh Bullock, Rachel Lever and substitute Emma Davies secured victory for the Blues.
The convincing win for Chester ends a run of four games without a win at home, after such a strong unbeaten start to the season at home for the Seals.
It was not an ideal start to the game for the visitors. A thunderous effort from Jones was expertly saved and resulted in the Didsbury 'keeper being substituted after just five minutes.
However, the away side would take the lead on 25 minutes despite extended pressure from Chester early on. Charlie Wearing caught off her line by the Didsbury midfielder as her shot looped over the Seals 'keeper and in to the net.
Five minutes later Chester levelled, Jones confidently finishing her first goal of the game after picking up the loose ball from Lever's run on the outside of the box.
Just before half-time an incredible solo-effort from Bullock gave the hosts the lead, passing three opposition defenders and slotting the ball past the 'keeper.
Two minutes in to the second half the Seals were pegged back once again as another effort looped over the head of Wearing to make it 2-2.
From then on it was complete dominance for the Blues as they scored four goals in the last half an hour of the game at Ellesmere Port Sports Village.
Check out the match recap:
Broomhead first on the score-sheet after Lever played her through, ending her run of multiple games without a goal and putting Chester one-goal ahead once again.
Jones then sealed her brace and took a bang in the head in the process after jumping ahead of the 'keeper to tap home.
Lever would then get another assist and get on the scoresheet herself. Firstly playing in substitute Davies for her first goal in a Chester shirt and then moments later finishing in to the bottom left-hand corner to seal all three points.
Jones' dream home debut
"She's a fantastic player, she got her two goals which she more than deserved and she could've had a few more." Those were the thoughts of manager Martin FItzsimons on Jones' home debut.
Jones couldn't have wished for a first start for Chester, scoring two and leading her team to victory and picking up the player of the match award.
Even in a short space of time, the winger has proved her class and is sure to be a huge addition to the team in the months to come.
Broomhead gets her goal
“I don’t think I’ve celebrated a goal this season more." said manager Martin Fitzsimons after Sunday's game.
It had been a long wait for Broomhead in 2020, continuing to put in hard-working performances and even picking up a player of the match award.
The 6-2 win marked her first goal since Chester's 5-3 win over Wythenshawe in December, and one that the club hopes will spark a goal-scoring run in the last five league games.
Chester up to third
The win on Sunday now puts the Seals in to third place in the league, two points ahead of rivals Warrington Wolverines, who have two games in hand.
Chester face Warrington next in the league, in what could be the crucial game to decide who takes third spot come the end of the season.
The two sides played out a closely-fought 2-2 draw at Ellesmere Port Sport Village earlier in the season.
