Chester FC Women return to league action in the first game of 2020, with a home tie against Liverpool Feds Reserves Women.
Martin Fitzsimons' side will be hoping to pick up their fifth league win of the season, after seeing out the decade with a 4-1 friendly loss to The New Saints Ladies.
After a slow first half against TNS, the Seals put in an impressive second half performance and held their own against a side who is divisions above the Blues. If they can produce that performance this weekend, it could be a long afternoon for the Feds who lost 2-1 in the reverse fixture.
Chester Stats:
The Seals have had an indifferent run of form in recent matches with a disappointing home loss to Altrincham and in complete contrast a dominant away win against Wythenshawe.
The Blues sit in fourth place in the table, just the solitary point behind third place Warrington Wolverines, who managed to snatch a draw against Chester, in a game where the Seals were 2-0 up.
Club top scorer Rachel Lever will be looking to add to her eight goal tally against a struggling Liverpool Feds who have leaked in a plethora of goals this season.
Prior to the loss against Altrincham, Chester were undefeated at home this season and look to get back to winning ways this weekend.
The Opposition:
Liverpool Feds have struggled this season with only one win and two draws in thirteen league games. Four of their five points being picked up against bottom of the table Wythenshawe.
The Feds sit in eighth place four points off of bottom placed Wythenshawe. The Merseyside outfit have played thirteen games this season, the most in the league ( eight more than ninth placed Northwich Vixens and seven more than bottom of the table Wythenshawe).
Liverpool Feds have the worst goal difference in the league with -54, conceding 73 goals, by far the worst record in the league. On four occasions the Feds have let in nine goals in a game and eight goals on one occasion.
The Reverse Fixture:
Chester came out victorious last time out with a 2-1 win away from home.
Lucy Adderley and Sarah Gill got themselves on the score sheet as Kim Sands picked up player of the match.
The Blues went 1-0 down, which has been an unfortunate theme throughout the season for Chester.
