Chester FC Women are through to the next round of the Cheshire County Cup as winger Abi France believes the Seals can go all the way.

France opened the scoring for the Blues in what was a comfortable 3-1 win and sets up a quarter final clash against Stockport County Ladies.

The goal scorer doesn’t see why her side can’t win a trophy this season and in particular the cup.

“Any cup game you got to want it, you got to want to win” said France. We want to win something this year, we’re in the running for the league and there is no reason why we can’t be in the running for the cup and we want to win it.”

The winger’s tricky style of play drawn many fouls in what was a physical game, in which France compared it to like being in a ‘boxing’ match.

“I feel like I’ve been in a boxing ring to be honest, it always is playing against these they’re a strong team. You got to be light on your feet, be quicker than them and take some bruises along the way.”

Chester broke a run of four straight losses with the win against West Kirby and now look ahead to the remainder of the league campaign, in which the number seven calls for ‘team spirit’ and 'positivity’.

“We can push on in the league, we have had a few good losses along the way, but having taken this win today I think we’ve gained our composure as a team. With team effort and team spirit, we will be up there and try our best. To play like it’s a cup game every week and I don’t see why we can’t be up there.

“For me personally every morning I try and rile the squad up, we’ve got to have a positive attitude and win every time. We don’t want any negativity in the team at all, we want to take that out and turn every criticism into positive, constructive criticism, which is what we got to do.”

Chester return to league action at the weekend against Didsbury FC Ladies, in what could be the Seals’ first consecutive away victories of the season.
